Bachelor of Science in Agriculture 4 years
(Diploma in Agriculture 2 years)
The main purpose and intention of the programme is to build human resources capacity in the agriculture sector. The proposed programme is designed to develop a cadre of professionals with knowledge and competencies in applied sciences pertinent to all aspects of agriculture and resources management. The programme is designed with double exit and double entry possibilities. The first two years of the programme is skill based, and prepares students to exit with a two year Diploma certificate. On completion of the first two years, those students capable of and wishing to pursue Bachelors programme will continue further for two more years and exit with Bachelor degree. Diploma graduates who have worked and gathered at least two years of field experience and wishing to enhance their profession career have the possibility to enter at the beginning of year 3 to obtain a Bachelor degree.
Objectives
The main aim of the Diploma and BSc Agriculture programme is to contribute to the socioeconomic development by creating a larger critical mass of qualified professionals in the field of agriculture and to advance the country’s intellectual and academic environment. Graduates are equipped with knowledge and skills to enhance food production, food security, and manage agriculture programmes that contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic development of a nation.
Curriculum Structure
The proposed BSc programme consists of 480 credits with 36 modules including field attachment and a research project in the 4th year. The mode of study will be full time for two years Diploma certificate and four years for Bachelor degree.
