Sunita Uroan is an environmental and development practitioner with a Master’s in Development Practice from the College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan, and a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from Sherubtse College. Currently serving as an Associate Lecturer at the College of Natural Resources, she brings diverse experience from academia, consultancy, and project coordination across national and international development projects. She teaches a range of undergraduate modules including: Environmental studies, Integrated Watershed Management, Principles of Ecology and Ecosystem, and Climate Change: Vulnerability, Adaptation, and Mitigation
She has worked on numerous environmental and social impact assessments, feasibility studies, and capacity-building projects, particularly in areas like hydropower, renewable energy, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure. Her work with organizations like UNDP, UNICEF, the World Bank, and various government agencies in Bhutan has focused on inclusive education, disaster management, environmental sustainability, and community resilience.
Sunita has also developed training modules for the Bhutan Nuns Foundation and conducted participatory action research on autism and ecological impacts of infrastructure projects. A published researcher and active volunteer, she is passionate about capacity building, social inclusion, and sustainable development.
