Dr. Bhagat Suberi<\/strong> is a seasoned academic and forestry expert with a PhD in Forest Management and Carbon. With over 28 years of experience in Forestry, he has dedicated a significant portion of his career to advancing knowledge and practices in forestry. He served for four years in the Department of Forest, Ministry of Agriculture and Forest, Royal Government of Bhutan, where he contributed to sustainable forest management initiatives.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Currently, he is a lecturer at the College of Natural Resources, where he teaches a variety of forestry modules. In his role as Head of the Department of Forest Science. He leads efforts to enhance educational programs and research in forestry, fostering the next generation of environmental stewards. Mr. Nythri Tshering<\/strong> is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Forest Science at the College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan. He holds an M.Sc. in Forestry from the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Botany and Life Sciences from Sherubtse College.<\/span>\n\n

His research focuses on lichen diversity, phytochemistry, freshwater macroinvertebrates and plankton ecology, and ethnobotanical knowledge systems. Trained in key laboratory and molecular techniques, he integrates traditional ecological knowledge with modern scientific approaches to support evidence-based biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management.\u00a0<\/span>\n\n

Mr. Laxmi Sagar<\/strong> is an Associate Lecturer at the Department of Forest Science, College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and a Master of Science in Conservation Biology by Research from the College of Natural Resources, as well as a Master of Science in Organic Agriculture and Agroecology from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), His research interests span freshwater ecology, forest ecology, and biodiversity conservation, with a particular focus on understanding ecological interactions and their implications for sustainable resource management in Bhutan. He is committed to linking scientific inquiry with applied conservation practices that enhance ecosystem resilience and support sustainable livelihoods.<\/span>\n

Mr. Sagar is actively involved in both teaching and research, contributing to capacity building and interdisciplinary learning in the environmental and forest sciences. Dr. Yonten Dorji<\/strong> is a Scientist at the College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan specializing in forest dynamics, climate science, and conservation. He earned his PhD in Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology from the G\u00f6ttingen University, Germany. He also holds an MSc in Climatology & Mountain Forestry from BOKU University, Vienna, Austria, and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Botany from the University of Queensland, Australia.<\/span>\n\n

Dr. Dorji is currently a Programme Leader for the MSc Conservation Biology programme. He has served as Head of the Department of Forest Science [2016\u20132019]. He also worked as an Expatriate Scientist at the Georg-August-Universit\u00e4t, Goettingen, Germany [2019\u20132022], where he contributed to global forest ecology studies.<\/span>\n\n

An active scholar, Dr. Dorji has numerous publications in high-impact journals. Dr. Yeshey Khandu<\/strong> is a Lecturer and Programme Coordinator for MSc Natural Resource Management at Department of Forest Science, College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan. Prior to joining RUB in 2004, he was Forest Conservator and Manager at Department of Forestry and Park Services, Bhutan. He has vast field experience in scientific and sustainable management of forests. Dr. Yeshey has published articles as the authors and co-authors on both the national and international high impact factor journals. He also earned several first and second-class honours\u2019 certificates in various courses from the University of Aberdeen, UK.<\/span>\n\n

He portrays profound academic professional capacity, knowledge, field experience and skills in forestry and dendrochronology. He is a founder and builder of Dendrochronology Laboratory at CNR, University of Bhutan (2008 – 2025). He is a specialist in dendrochronology that delve into paleoclimatology and paleoecology. As an academician and researcher, he focuses into application\/association of these fields in ecological dynamics of forests, sustainable forest management, cryosphere\/permafrost environments, and rangelands of Himalayan mountains. His recent research field publication covers application of dendrochronology in investigating interaction between climate change and ecological dynamics of treeline ecotones and paleoclimate reconstruction over the high-elevation Bhutan Himalaya.<\/span>\n\n

He teaches, reviews and develops degree programmes (BSc Forest Science, BSc Environment and Climate Studies, MSc Natural Resource Management, PhD Climate Studies). Currently, he is carrying out research on paleoclimate reconstruction unfolding chronicles of climate chang over Northern Bhutan Himalaya. He also works on dendrohydrology (river flood dynamics) in investigating impacts of historical trends and events of river floods on hydropower energy generation; alpine ecotones in relation to climatic variability in high-elevation mountains. For this research, he is using dendrochronology to analyse and establish a dendro-hydroclimate relationship and reconstruct past palaeohydrological and paleoclimatic chronicles, historical trends and events. He also uses GIS and Remote Sensing as tools in dendro-hydroclimate spatial and temporal analysis research.<\/span>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mr. Cheten Dorji<\/strong> is a lecturer and researcher at the College of Natural Resources (CNR) in Bhutan, specializing in invertebrate taxonomy, phylogeography, and evolutionary biology, particularly focusing on camel crickets, and is pursuing a PhD at Massey University in New Zealand, building on his previous work at CNR and experience in Germany and Austria. Asst. Professor Ugyen Dorji<\/strong> is a leading freshwater ecologist in Bhutan with over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and professional services. His academic and research interests lie in freshwater and wetland ecosystems,\u00a0 river morphology, spatial distribution and statistical modeling of species, hydrology, and ecohydrology.<\/span><\/p>\n

He has facilitated more than 70 professional and capacity-building trainings and has authored over 70 publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, policy briefs, and technical reports. He has also served as a consultant and expert advisor on numerous national projects related to aquatic biodiversity, hydropower impact assessments, environmental flows, and climate change impacts on river systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his teaching role, he engages students in diverse subjects such as freshwater and woodland ecosystems, river morphology, spatial modeling, and ecohydrological processes. He is also seasoned in guiding postgraduate research and supervising large-scale projects. He is also the Co-founder of Water Research Bhutan and has contributed as a National Technical Working Group member for water resources management in Bhutan.<\/span><\/p>\n

As Head of the Centre for Environment and Climate Research at the Royal University of Bhutan, he continues to build research culture, mentor young scholars, and lead collaborations that bridge science, policy, and conservation practice.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
