Ms. Zangmo<\/strong> is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture at the College of Natural Resources (CNR), Royal University of Bhutan, where she has been appointed as the Head of Department as of January 2026. Her academic foundation includes a Master in Agricultural Science from Naresuan University in Thailand and a Bachelor in Agricultural Science from CNR. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Horticulture from Kasetsart University and a Post Graduate Certificate in higher studies in teaching and learning.In her current role, she teaches various modules including Horticultural Crops, Water Management, and Climate Smart Agriculture. Her professional expertise is backed by extensive specialized training in areas such as Bio-Dynamic Agriculture, AI, and Climate Smart Agriculture.Zangmo\u2019s research specifically focuses on cropping and management techniques for chilli production under rain-fed farming. Beyond her teaching and research, she contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for the International Journal of Environment, Nepal, and the Bhutan Journal of Natural Resources and Development (BJNRD). Mr. Karma Wangdi<\/strong> is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture at the College of Natural Resources under the Royal University of Bhutan, where he has also served as Programme Leader for the BSc Agriculture programme. He holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Science with High Distinction from Naresuan University, Thailand, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agriculture from Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, India.\nHis academic and research interests focus on soil science, agronomy, nutrient management in organic farming, climate-smart agriculture, and the documentation of sustainable land management practices. His postgraduate research investigated the effects of rice husk biochar particle size on soil physicochemical properties, nutrient leaching, and crop productivity in sandy soils, contributing to the understanding of sustainable soil management practices.\nMr. Wangdi has teaching experience in Soil Science, Soil Fertility Management, Agronomy, and Entomology. In addition to teaching, he has contributed to curriculum development, supervised undergraduate research projects, and actively served in various academic and institutional committees. He has published his research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international academic conferences, reflecting his commitment to advancing agricultural research and knowledge dissemination.\nHe has also participated in several professional development programmes, including training in fertilizer quality control, protected cultivation, and sustainable agriculture practices. Recently, he successfully completed a leadership development programme at the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies, further strengthening his leadership, communication, and strategic thinking capabilities. Mr. Wang Gyeltshen<\/strong> is an Associate Lecturer specializing in seed science and technology. With a Master of Science and Engineering in Agriculture, he has built an academic and professional career deeply rooted in the study of seed development, storage, and germination. His research interests lie at the intersection of plant biology and applied technologies, particularly those that enhance seed quality, preservation methods, and sustainable agricultural practices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, Mr. Gyeltshen served as a Research Assistant in the seed sector, where he gained extensive hands-on experience in seed production, quality control, and research. He has also worked extensively on value chain analysis of crops, examining the flow of outputs within agricultural systems to identify efficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to this, Mr. Gyeltshen has contributed to seed policy development, focusing on frameworks that enhance seed accessibility, quality, and distribution. His work emphasizes supporting sustainable agricultural practices and building resilience in local farming communities, while ensuring long-term sustainability in seed production and usage and ultimately contribute towards food and nutrition security.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. Sonam Tashi<\/strong> holds a PhD in Agricultural Science from the University of Bonn, Germany, a Master\u2019s degree in Agriculture from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a BSc in Agriculture (Horticulture Major) from the University of the Philippines, Los Ba\u00f1os.\n\nHe has diverse experiences from being a researcher, manager and teaching. He has over 18 years of teaching experience at CNR. Dr. Tashi has held key leadership positions including Associate Professor, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages.\n\nHe is specialized in organic agriculture and medicinal and aromatic plants. He has served as a national taskforce member with IFOAM in developing the Agroecological Roadmap of Bhutan and has also contributed to the formulation of the Package of Practices for Organic RNR Commodities in Bhutan.<\/span>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. Tulsi Gurung<\/strong> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture at the College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan. With over three decades of academic and professional experience, she has played a key role in teaching, research, and academic leadership within Bhutan\u2019s higher education system. She holds a PhD in Agriculture from Khon Kaen University, Thailand, an MSc in Horticulture from the University of Reading, UK, and a BSc in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry from G.B. Pant Uuniversity of Agriculture &Technology, India.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Her teaching and research interests focus on horticultural crop production, climate change and agriculture, sustainable farming systems, postharvest technology, medicinal and aromatic plants, water and irrigation management, and agro-biodiversity. She has contributed to research on agricultural sustainability, organic farming, gender roles in agriculture, and climate-resilient livelihoods, with has been published in national and international journals and book chapters.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Dr. Gurung has held several leadership positions, including Programme Leader, Head of the Department, and Dean of Academic Affairs, and has been actively involved in international collaborations, consultancy, and capacity-building initiatives. Ms. Sonam Gaki<\/strong> is an Associate Lecturer at the College of Natural Resources (CNR), Royal University of Bhutan, currently serving as the Programme Leader for the forthcoming Master\u2019s programme in Sustainable Mountain Agriculture. She previously served as the Seminar Coordinator and the Programme Leader for Organic Agriculture. She holds an MSc in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems from the University of Hohenheim, Germany, and a BSc in Agriculture from CNR, Bhutan.<\/span><\/p>\n

With over 15 years of professional experience in agricultural extension, seed production management, and higher education, her work focuses on agroecology, sustainable farming systems, organic nutrient management, and integrated pest and weed management. Beyond her academic duties, she is a proponent of modern agricultural communication, sharing technical knowledge and field experiences through video and photography on various social media platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her research interests are multidisciplinary, encompassing organic soil fertility and nutrient management, ecological pest and weed management, and sustainable cropping systems. She is particularly interested in farmer-centred extension approaches and the development of climate-resilient mountain agriculture.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mr. Ongpo Lepcha<\/strong> joined the department in 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from the University of Horticultural Sciences, India; a master\u2019s degree in Agricultural Science from Naresuan University, Thailand; and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from Samtse College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

His expertise spans agronomy, horticulture, floriculture, geographic information systems (GIS), and plant protection, with specialized research in entomopathogenic fungi and nematodes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

From 2022 to 2025, Mr. Lepcha served as Head of the Agriculture Department. In this role, he provided consultancy to the National Soil Services Centre, documenting sustainable land management (SLM) technologies and approaches for Bhutan using World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT) methodologies. The initiative identified and cataloged exemplary SLM practices for inclusion in the global WOCAT database. He also consulted for the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) on solar-powered irrigation systems (SPIS), identifying sites in water-scarce areas and supporting installations.
Currently, Mr. Lepcha is a member of the Bhutan Standards Bureau’s Mechanical Engineering Technical Committee and serves as the focal person for cut flower production at the college.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mrs Nima Dolma Tamang<\/strong> began her career as a Research Officer with the National Organic Flagship Programme at the National Centre for Organic Agriculture, Yusipang (November 1, 2019 \u2013 March 14, 2021), where she contributed to national organic agriculture initiatives. She joined the College of Natural Resources (CNR) on March 15, 2021, as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture, teaching across undergraduate programmes in Agriculture, Organic Agriculture, and Food Science and Technology. She has published a research article on the biochemical properties of Moringa oleifera<\/em> leaf powder and contributed to national publications on organic agriculture and climate-smart farming. Mrs Tamang has extensive consultancy experience, particularly in documenting sustainable land management technologies and approaches for Bhutan using WOCAT methodologies. She has served as a resource person for farmer trainings and national curriculum development workshops. She has completed a Postgraduate certificate in higher education programme and actively participates in capacity-building programmes, including recent use of AI in teaching and research workshops. She also served as Programme Leader for the BSc in Organic Agriculture (July 1, 2021 \u2013 June 30, 2023). Her research interests include climate-smart agriculture, plant breeding and agricultural economics.<\/span>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
