Bachelor of Science in Forestry 4 years<\/strong><\/div>\n
(Diploma in Forestry \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 2 years)<\/strong><\/div>\n\n
The main purposes of Diploma and BSc programmes in Forestry are to build human resources capacity in the management of natural resources, environment, and to contribute to rural development and poverty reduction initiatives. The proposed programmes are designed to develop a cadre of professionals with knowledge, skills, and competencies as forestry extension worker, environment manager, nature conservationist, natural resource manager, researcher, wildlife manager, social forestry manager, and forest nursery entrepreneurs. The four year programme is designed with double exit and double entry possibilities. The first two years of the programme is skill based, and prepares students to exit with a two year Diploma certificate. On completion of the first two years, those students capable of and wishing to pursue Bachelor programme will continue further for two more years and exit with Bachelor degree. Diploma graduates who have worked and gathered at least two years of field experience (in-service) and wishing to enhance their profession career have the possibility to enter at the beginning of year 3 to obtain a Bachelor degree.<\/div>\n\n
Objectives<\/strong><\/div>\n\n
The main aim of the Diploma and BSc in Forestry is to contribute to the socioeconomic development by creating a larger critical mass of qualified professionals in the field of forestry and to advance the country’s intellectual and academic environment. Graduates are equipped with knowledge and skills to enhance conservation of natural resources, environment, and wildlife that contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic development of a nation.\u00a0<\/div>\n\n
Curriculum Structure<\/strong><\/div>\n\n
The proposed four year BSc programme consists of 480 credits with 36 modules including field attachment and a research project in the 4th year. The mode of study will be full time.<\/div>\n\n\n
