Issues raised by the prospective candidates of the B.Sc (in-service) programme at CNR

Issues:

  1. Agriculture staff with class 10 plus in-country certificate and one year Diploma from outside Bhutan.  Are they eligible for the B.Sc course at CNR?
  2. Agriculture staff (last batch from Khangma)with certificate holders but without transcript.Are they eligible to apply?
  3. Royal Veterinary Institute certificate holders who were not issued transcript; are they eligible to apply?
  4. NRTI/CNR graduate who misplaced/lost original transcript. Would the photocopy be accepted?
  5. Performance evaluation forms – originals have been submitted for promotion to MoA/RCSC; will CNR accept the photocopy of it?
  6. Questions on the entrance exam papers.

As per the RCSC circular numbered RCSC/HRD(2.00)2009/478, dated 31st July 2009, the first three categories (issue #1, 2, 3) do not qualify to sit for the entrance examinations.

Issue No 4: NRTI/CNR graduate who misplaced/lost original transcript but possess photocopy of it, will it be accepted by CNR for the entrance examination?

The candidate who lost/misplaced the original transcript or certificate may obtain a copy either from the RCSC archive/personal file from the respective organization, and be attested by the officer in-charge of RCSC or the organization prior to submission to CNR.

Issue No 5. Performance evaluation forms – original have been submitted for promotion to MoA/RCSC; will CNR accept the photocopy of it?

As advertised in the media as well as in the web pages of CNR/RUB/MoA the document must be in original form. If the original has been submitted to MoA HRD section/RCSC, the candidate must obtain a copy from the respective organization and get it attested by the official in-charge

Issue No 6. Questions on the entrance examination papers:
As per the agreement with MoA and the decision of the 174th FCM meeting, there will be three papers :1)

1)Technical paper in each specific faculty i.e. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Forestry,
2) Language paper(English)
3) General Knowledge and General science paper

The papers will have the following components:

A. Technical paper in respective faculty

1.Faculty of Agriculture:

a.Horticulture and Postharvest (30%)
b.Plant Protection (20%)
c.Agronomy
    i.Agronomy & Field crops (20%)
    ii.Nutrient management (10%)
    iii.Irrigation (10%)
    iv.Plant breeding & seed production (10%)

2.Faculty of Animal Husbandry (each component will carry 16%)

a.Pig Production
b.Poultry Production
c.Dairy Production and Technology
d.Applied anatomy of domestic animals
e.Breeding and genetics
f.Feed and fodder production

3.Faculty of Forestry (Each component will carry 25%)

a.Forest management and Harvesting
b.Parks and Conservation Science
c.Forest Research
d.Community and Private Forestry

B. Common Paper

4.General Knowledge and General Science *

    a.Communication and extension (15%)
    b.Research and Statistics (15%)
    c.Soil Science (15%)
    d.Farm Economics (15%)
    e.Ecology and Conservation science (15%)
    f.General Knowledge and Current Affairs (15%)
    g.General Science (10%)

C.Language Paper

    a.Comprehension
    b.Grammar
    c.Essay

Examination duration

The duration for each paper will be two hours.

Assessment:

The papers will be double marked for transparency and reliability. The papers will be assessed by the faculty members of the College of Natural Resources and cross-checked by the External Examiner identified from the Ministry of Agriculture.
