National Debate Competition

May 2017: Bhutan Transparency Initiative (BTI) and College of Natural Resources has conducted National Debate Competition today (8/5/18) on the theme "Climate Finance and Governance."

Executive Director, Aum Pema Lham of BTI said that the objectives of organizing this debate are to:
1. Share information among colleges under the Royal University of Bhutan,
2. Create awareness amongst youths on climate finance and governance and
3.Select participants for international level.

Ten participants from five different colleges namely; Royal Thimphu College, Paro College of Education, Gedu College of Business Studies, Sherubtse College and College of Natural Resources have taken part in the debate.
Participants were divided into two groups as the Governing Group and the Opposing Group. Both the teams had mesmerizing points to be noted and the flow of debate was exceptionally good.

Opposing bench won by  75% score over the governing bench with 72%. Mr Namgay Lhamo from Paro College of Education was selected as the best speaker with 83% and Tshelthrim Tharchen of CNR as runners-up with 80%. They are selected for the upcoming international debate in Bangladesh.
